Default CE Worst Case Scenario: 10 days, and CE hasn't arrived

Shortly after the pre-order came out, I went out and picked it up and put down the full purchase price for the CE.

Now that there are issues with CE's punctual delivery, will the Factions character that I have created be deleted, if worst case scenario, 10 days has passed and my CE that I have paided for has not arrived.

While I can understand, and accept, if a character were to become inaccessible until the Factions key has been entered, for my character to be deleted to no fault of my own, is a bit harsh.

If there are continuing issues with arrival times of the CE, will ANet extend the grace period?

They definetly should. It seems very unfair that this can happen.

Ten-Day Grace Period Explained 1 May 2006

The grace period mentioned in an earlier news post will end at 11:59 p.m. PDT on May 8. During the 10-day grace period, if you have a Prophecies account and have added a Factions pre-order key, you can create a 5th or 6th character. After the 10-day grace period, if you have not added a Factions (retail) key to your account, you will not be able to create a 5th or 6th character. We will not delete your new characters, items, or skill unlocks after the 10-day grace period. However, you will need to add a Factions (retail) key to your account in order to play with any Canthan characters after the end of the Extended Head Start Event.

In truth, I am already a bit pissed off. I paid full price a long time ago (03/10/06), and as far as I am concerned, the property which I already own, is not in my hands, RIGHT NOW.

But, oh well, just venting.

i pre ordered mine from EB Games. As of today May 1 2006 they still have not recieved ANY shipment of factions in. Told me to just keep checking. I would be really mad to be unable to play the game because of shipment issues to the stores. I'm glad the 10 day limit is in, but I hope they will extend it if needed.

I was told the CE would show up at EB on Friday here in my Canadian city, but sadly for some reason, my pre-order key has expired and I can't play my Cantha characters. I think the math for the "10 days" started when I entered the key, not when the Head Start began.

That doesn't make sense, their main site says May 8th.

Deceived!

Default Preorder expired - already????

Seems your worst case, isn't the worst case..

I preordered CE in .au - have been playing on the preorder key.. EB advises stock expected this Friday (5th). Local time is 5:30pm, Tuesday, May 2nd .. and I just finished a mission to be greeted with a code 165 'do not have access'

*edit - seems I'm not alone :S

Is it just me, or does the above actually not say anything about whether we can actually *play* our characters in the grace period? As I read it, it merely advises we can create characters; playability is implied, I guess, by reference to 'not deleting characters, items and unlocks'; but of being able to play them during and to the end of the 'grace period' it makes no mention at all - only that to play them afterwards we'll have to add a key. There is zero mention of when our keys would actually expire and stop us playing Canthan characters... I wonder whether it was written by someone in marketing, or legal... -_-

Forsythe - They extended the period that ppl with pre-order key's could access the game. Originally it was meant to only last the 24 hours before the game went live. However they changed it so that pre-order key's gave access to the end of the 1st - a 3 day extended head start.

The 10 day period comes to an end on 8th of May.

Default So...

.... if someone adds a preorder key *now* - they'll be able to play for three days How this corrects Anet's inability to supply on order in a timely manner eludes me. Net effect - no access to factions until the (late) stock arrives, starting this evening local time. Compensation? Nil. Unhappy customer? You bet.

So you can imagine my confusion having my characters inaccessible 6 days early.

As much as people want to blame Anet for not having enough CE versions, how much of the blame should go the the stores? They're the ones selling preorder CE's without a clue of how many they would actually get.

Anet's undersupply isn't the issue. Their disabling our preorder keys before the game is available *at all* is. By that logic, in Australia, *no* preorder packs should have been sold. Why were *those* shipped?

The preorder pack is not exclusive to the normal or CE version of Factions.

However, look here for explanation.

The headstart was exteneded by 3 days of play...

The "grace Period" for making new characters si what was extended to 10 days as far as I understand it, so you shouldn't be able to play with your characters, but you can make them....:S
